Rearranging formula

Postby R515 » Thu Jan 16, 2014 7:22 pm

Me and my daughter are stuck rearranging this formula,her notes from class aren't that clear and it's 35yr since I was at school, please help,

X=p-q
pq

i.e. p-q divded by pq = x

where q needs to be the subject

We've taken it as far as xpq =p-q but are now struggling.

Many thanks Mark

They show how to type math here. Yours would look like "x = (p - q)/(pq)". (I'm assuming that "X" and "x" are supposed to be the same thing??)

They show the trick for this here. Yours would like like:

xpq = p - q
xpq + q = p
(xp + 1)q = p

Finish.
